BECAUSE
YOU
NEVER KNOW
An independent jazz label dedicated to bold creativity, soulful expression, and music that surprises. Every recording produced by Matt Parker. All rights retained by artists.
How BYNK Began
BYNK Records was founded in 2013 by saxophonist and composer Matt Parker out of a simple belief: that serious jazz deserves a serious home, and that artists should own what they make. The name comes from a phrase that changed the way Matt thought about music and life — "Because You Never Know How Many More You Are Going To Get." Make every note count.
From the beginning, BYNK has been built on direct relationships with artists. Every release in the catalog was produced by Matt Parker personally — not handed off, not formulaic. The label exists to document moments of genuine creative risk and make them available to the people who need to hear them.
Seven releases deep, BYNK has featured DownBeat Best Album of the Year recognition, DownBeat Editors' Picks, four-star reviews from All About Jazz, and coverage in JAZZIZ and Something Else Reviews. The roster spans Pittsburgh post-bop, New York avant-garde, minimalist vocal jazz, and cinematic saxophone — connected by quality and intention, not genre.
BYNK Records is a home, not a machine. The artists who release here are collaborators, not clients. And the music is made for people who listen the way music deserves to be listened to.
Saxophonist, composer, and multi-woodwind specialist based in Simsbury, CT. Producer of every BYNK Records release. 25+ years at the intersection of jazz, film, and contemporary music. John Wick, Poolman, Dorrance Dance, Maynard Ferguson Orchestra. He hears things in recordings that other people miss — and fixes them before they leave the studio.
Label President of BYNK Records since its founding. The operational intelligence behind the creative output — managing relationships, releases, and the long-term vision that keeps BYNK independent and intentional.
